BOARD OF DIRECTOR ELECTIONS

House Bill 305 Election Disclosure: The following information related to the District’s elections for members of the Board of Directors is being posted by the District pursuant to Section 2051.152 of the Texas Government Code (enacted by House Bill 305 during the 2019 Texas Legislative Session).

1.  The date and location of the next election for members of the Board of Directors of the District:

Elections for directors of the District are conducted on the May uniform election date in even-numbered years. Accordingly, the next election for members of the Board of Directors of the District shall be conducted on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

The election shall be conducted at the polling places established by Denton County to serve the county’s regular election precincts within the District, as required by Sections 42.0621 and 43.004 of the Texas Election Code.

The first day to file for a place on the ballot is January 17, 2024. Applications for a place on the ballot must be received by the District Secretary no later than 5 p.m. on February 16, 2024. 

2.  The following is a list of required qualifications for candidacy (§49.052, Texas Water Code): 

Must be at least 18 years of age

A resident of the district

May not be related within the third degree of affinity or consanguinity to a developer of property in the district, any other member of the board, or the manager, engineer, attorney, or other person providing professional services to the district 

May not be an employee of any developer of property in the district or any director, manager, engineer, attorney, or other person providing professional services to the district or a developer of property in the district in connection with the district or property located in the district  

May not be a developer of property in the district  

May not be serving as an attorney, consultant, engineer, manager, architect, or in some other professional capacity for the district or a developer of a property in the district in connection with the district or property located in the district  

May not be a party to a contract with or along with the district except for the purchase of public services furnished by the district to the public generally

May not be a party to a contract with or along with a developer of property in the district relating to the district or to property within the district, other than a contract limited solely to the purpose of purchasing or conveying real property in the district for the purpose of either establishing a permanent residence, establishing a commercial business within the district, or qualifying as a director.

DIRECTOR TERMS:

Trophy Club Municipal Utility District No. 1 is composed of five (5) Directors, elected at large by place numbers by Plurality (largest number of votes). Each serves a four (4) year term and is elected by qualified voters of the District.

The May 4, 2024, General Election is to elect a Director for Place 1 and Place 2 is canceled.

     Filing deadlines for Campaign Finance Reports (Instructions) are

     1) 30-day pre-election report

     2) 8-day pre-election report

     3) July 15th to terminate the campaign treasurer or to file the semi-annual report.

To register to vote, simply fill out a voter registration application and mail it at least 30 days before the election date to the voter registrar in your county of residence (either Denton or Tarrant County).
